Look how Avery has grown!

Avery is growing like a weed! Her personality shows through too. She loves bath time now, but that wasn't the case the first week she came home from the hospital. She has graduated from her bassinet to her crib and is cooing and talking up a storm. She has grown out of all of her shoes and I have had to retire some of her cutest outfits. (We took all of her toys out of the crib for sleep) She still does not sleep through the night, but she wakes only once or twice and Jason does the first feeding which helps out so much. I've been able to get five or more hours of sleep at night.

Avery loves to sit up. She enjoys her Bumbo chair or sitting on laps. She's starting to tolerate her Tummy Time a little more too. She is a really good baby with a sweet disposition (so far), but she is not always 100% happy. She lets us know when she's not happy by puffing up her bottom lip and making a pouty face. It usually means she's tierd and needs a cuddle for bed or nap time. She does self soothe by sucking on her knuckles or pacifier. When she's really unhappy she lets us know loud and clear, but we can usually figure out what she needs.

Avery went to two birthday parties recently. Patrick's first birthday party was cowboy themed and she wore her pink John Deer cowboy boots and a pink bandanna. Before long the cowgirl was tuckered out and napped throughout the comotion in her cow jammies. At Destiny's thrid birthday the suprize guest was Cinderella! The festivities were fit for all little princesses.

As for Mommy, I'm getting ready to go back to work. It is bitter sweet. The thought of leaving her for twelve hours is hard but I'm excited to go back to my nursing job in the ER that I love. It will be three or four days a week. I graduated from the BSN program back in May when Avery was in my tummy from Cal State Dominguez Hills. I've been going to the gym three times per week to the Aqua Fit classes to strenghten my back. It is a slow process but I feel good. I miss Grandpa everyday but I know he is with our Lord and is at peace.

Papa works all the time but he is a great father and he loves his girls; Harley too, our dog.

Our family is so blessed. Even though things are tight with the economic crisis we are getting by even with me not working thanks to the love and support of our families and our friends. We can't thank you enough. We love you all.

Happy New Year 2009!

Evan's favorite gift this Christmas was a little nut cracker from Santa and a Wii. Avery was a little snow girl for Christmas! She catnapped throughout the day and enjoyed visiting with family. It was very cold on December 25, 2008 so she didn't get to wear her Christmas dress until New Year's Day.

We all stayed home for New Year's Eve. Jason and I couldn't even stay awake until midnight. Breanna had her friend Sophia over and we ate finger foods and drank sparkling cider. We are so thankful for what this new year represents for our family. Avery is a little blessing and she changes everyday. It will be a great experience to watch her grow during this next year. I hope everyone has a great 2009.

Breanna has been away on a school trip to Yosemite. We miss her and can't wait to hear all about it. I'm sure there was a lot of snow play and recreation.

Welcome! The Acosta's

Welcome to the Acosta Family Journal. So much has changed in our lives since we were married in August 2004. Please bookmark this site so I can keep you updated on our family events and share our pictures. We love all of you and wish we could get together more often. This blog will help to stay close. The picture above is from our first 4th of July 2006, in our new home in Fillmore. We have been having an annual BBQ every year since. Special thanks to Jen for helping me set this site up! I needed help from the younger generation.

Though being pregnant through the summer was difficult with my complications, Breanna, Evan and I still had a good time. This is the Lake Casitas Water Park. It was a good way to beat the heat. I spent most of my time floating on the Lazy River. It was great!

We had swim parties, BBQs and a Luau at home too! The kids also went rock climbing, to Skating Plus, and the park. Breanna had a great time at the Smart Start Summer Day Camp and Evan learned to swim at the Santa Paula High School. They kept busy despite not being able to go on a family vacation this year.

Sisters, Jen, Carrie and Wendy at the October 4th baby shower. I was 35 weeks pregnant and feeling it. We were so blessed by family and freinds at the showers. Thank you to everyone.
Little did we know that I would go into labor in just two short weeks. On my birthday, no less, October 17th. I was in labor all day and did not know it. I thought it was painful Braxton Hicks. That will be a birthday to remember!

I got the best present!

Avery Grace Acosta born October 18, 2008 at 3:30 am at Santa Paula Hospital by Cesaran Section. She weighed 7 lbs. 1.3 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Papa, Breanna and Avery; 2 days old. Breanna is such a great big sister. She helps with Avery's care and loves picking out her outfits.

Mommy and Avery; 4 days old. We are going home from the hospital today! Avery will get to meet Harley (our dog) for the first time and get aquainted with her new home. (We did go home, only to be admitted again the next day for juandice, but Avery did fine.)

We are so excited to welcome Avery to our family. Jason and I tried for years to become pregnant and we beleive she is our little miracle. She has cemented our family and we thank God for her. We can't imagine life without her despite sleepless nights and dirty diapers.

Visiting at Nana and Tata's House. They were just as excited to meet Avery as we were. Breanna and Avery are their only grandchildren. We are lucky the girls have grandparents that live close by.

Grandpa and Avery October 22, 2008. We love you Grandpa and we will never forget. I was so fortunate to have you in my life and I owe you and Grandma for my success becuase of your guidance and love. You showed me the way and I thank you for it. I miss you!

Avery will know what a special man you were and how special she was to you; thank you for holding on. Praise God for you Grandpa! Your spirit is with us in our hearts......always!

Great Grandma Nay

There have many so many changes to our family recently it is hard to keep up.

Avery is two months old already! She had her shots and 2 month check up and is thriving. She loves sticking her tongue out, cooing, and smiling she is so much fun!
Her favorite things to do are hang out in her vibrating Papasan chair, swing, eat and sleep.

She is just starting to sleep 3 or 4 hour stents now that she is two months. I'm hoping she is transitioning from waking every two hours and starting to know the difference between day and night. She is not on a consistent schedule yet, but my goal is to start sleep training at three months. Lord knows we need sleep.

We went to see Santa on Decemeber 17th at the mall. I love being a new Mom and love my family. We are all looking forward to Christmas with our new little present! Merry Christmas and God bless all of you! Love the Acosta's!
